Oscar Predictions, 2013 Edition

This is my third straight winter in the Netherlands and the third straight winter that I won’t be able to watch the telecast of The Academy Awards. If there’s a station that airs it live over here, the show won’t even begin until 1 AM Dutch time. Nevertheless, here’s how I think things will play out tonight….

Best PictureArgo (rad)

Best Actor – Daniel Day-Lewis (meh)

Best Actress – Emmanuelle Riva (zzz…)

Best Supporting Actor – Christoph Waltz (the only bright spot in an incredibly crappy movie)

Best Supporting Actress – Anne Hathaway (yeah…)

Best Director – Steven Spielberg (meh)

Best Original ScreenplayDjango Unchained (bleah)

Best Adapted ScreenplayBeasts of the Southern Wild (it’s gotta win something)

Best Animated FeatureWreck-It Ralph (since nobody seemed to like Brave and since Americans don’t care about Aardman Animations)

Best CinematographyLife of Pi (a movie with some probs but being hard on the eyes ain’t one of ’em)

Best Costume DesignMirror Mirror (honestly, I have no clue)

Best Foreign FilmAmour (zzz…)

Best MakeupThe Hobbit (why wasn’t Cloud Atlas nominated?)

Best Original Score Argo (rad)

Best Original Song – “Skyfall” (because Adele)

Best Production DesignLife of Pi (because nobody but me liked The Hobbit)

Best Visual EffectsLife of Pi (because tigers and Prometheus sucked and nobody but me liked The Hobbit)

I’ve still not seen the Oscars. How many did you get right?

  2. Brandon says:
